This Privacy Policy explains how Smart File Compressor ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the App.

1. App Overview

Smart File Compressor helps users compress selected files for specific purposes, such as email attachments, resume submissions, messenger sharing, blog uploads, and custom target sizes.

The App may support compression or optimization for the following file types:

• Images, such as JPG, JPEG, PNG, and WebP files
• PDF files
• Video files, such as MP4 or other supported video formats

The App only processes files that you explicitly select. It does not scan your entire device storage and does not request all-files access.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, upload, sell, or share the contents of the files you select for compression. In particular, we do not collect:

• Your selected images
• Your selected PDF files
• Your selected video files
• The content of your documents
• Your contacts
• Your precise location
• Your SMS messages
• Your call logs
• Your account credentials

The App does not create user accounts and does not require you to sign in.

3. Local File Processing

When you choose a file for compression, the file is processed locally on your device. The App creates a compressed copy and preserves the original file.

The App may temporarily store compressed output files in app-specific storage or cache. These files are used to allow you to preview, save, or share the compressed result.

Your selected files are not uploaded by the App to any server for compression.

4. File Access and Storage

The App uses Android system file selection features, such as Android Photo Picker or Storage Access Framework, to allow you to select files.

The App only receives access to files that you choose. It does not request access to all files on your device.

When you save a compressed file, the App may ask you to choose a save location using the Android system file picker. When you share a compressed file, the App may use Android's standard sharing system.

5. Metadata and EXIF Information

For image files, the App may provide an option to remove metadata, such as EXIF information. EXIF metadata can include camera model, orientation, date, and in some cases location-related information if it was stored in the original image.

If you choose to remove EXIF metadata, the App attempts to create a compressed copy without copying that metadata. The original file remains unchanged.

6. Compression History

The App may provide an optional local compression history feature. If enabled, this history is stored locally on your device.

The local history may include limited information such as:

• Display file name
• File type
• Original file size
• Compressed file size
• Selected compression preset
• Timestamp

The App is designed not to store full original file paths in persistent history.

You may clear local history from within the App if the feature is available.

7. Advertising

The App may display advertisements using Google Mobile Ads SDK, including Google AdMob. Third-party advertising partners may collect or receive certain information to provide, measure, and improve ads.

Information processed by advertising services may include data such as:

• Device information
• Advertising ID, where available and permitted
• App interaction information
• Approximate location inferred from network or device signals, depending on Google services and user settings
• Ad performance and diagnostic information

We do not provide your selected files to advertising partners.

8. Permissions

The App uses only permissions necessary for its functionality.

The App may use the following permissions:

• Internet access: Used for loading advertisements and related services.
• Network state access: Used to check network availability for advertisement loading.
• Advertising ID permission: May be used by Google Mobile Ads SDK where required and available.

The App does not request all-files access permission. The App does not scan all files on your device.

9. Sharing Files

If you choose to share a compressed file, the file will be sent to the app or service you select through Android's sharing interface. Once you share a file with another app or service, that third party's own privacy policy applies.

We are not responsible for how third-party apps or services handle files that you choose to share with them.

10. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

11. Data Security

We use a local-first design to reduce the amount of data transmitted outside your device. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

You are responsible for deciding which files to compress, save, or share.

12. Third-Party Services

The App may use third-party services, including:

• Google Mobile Ads SDK / Google AdMob
• Android system file picker and sharing features

These third-party services may process information according to their own privacy policies.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we update the Privacy Policy, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
