Privacy Policy for QuietLog

Last updated: May 20, 2026

QuietLog is a personal noise logging app. It helps users estimate reference-only noise levels using the device microphone, save noise logs locally, review noise history, and manage personal noise records.

QuietLog does not provide official, certified, or legally valid sound measurements. The app is intended for personal reference and record-keeping only.

1. Information We Collect

QuietLog does not require users to create an account and does not collect personal account information such as name, email address, phone number, or login credentials.

Depending on how you use the app, QuietLog may store the following information locally on your device:

2. Microphone Permission

QuietLog uses the microphone permission to estimate surrounding noise levels.

The app may process microphone input in real time to calculate reference-only noise level values. These values are used to show estimated dB readings, averages, maximum levels, and trends.

QuietLog does not use microphone access for hidden recording or background surveillance. Microphone-based measurement starts only when the user starts a measurement or recording feature inside the app.

3. Audio Recording and Audio Storage

QuietLog may include an optional audio memo or recording feature. If this feature is available and you choose to use it, the app may create and store audio files locally on your device.

Audio recording is optional and user-controlled. The app does not secretly record audio. The user must clearly start recording through the app interface.

Locally stored audio files may contain surrounding sounds, voices, or conversations depending on the environment in which the recording is made. You are responsible for using the recording feature in accordance with applicable laws and the privacy rights of others.

QuietLog does not upload audio recordings to our servers. QuietLog does not provide cloud storage for audio recordings.

4. Local Storage

QuietLog stores noise logs, user-entered notes, selected categories, intensity values, estimated dB values, app language preferences, and related app settings locally on your device.

Local data may be stored using local app databases and local preference storage. This data remains on your device unless you delete it, clear app data, uninstall the app, or explicitly export/share it through a future app feature.

5. Data Sharing

QuietLog does not sell or rent your personal noise logs, notes, or audio recordings.

QuietLog does not upload your personal noise logs, memos, manually entered location labels, or locally stored audio recordings to our own servers.

If you choose to share, export, or send a log or file using your device’s sharing features, the selected information may be handled by the apps or services you choose to share it with.

6. Advertising and Google AdMob

QuietLog may display ads using Google AdMob.

Google AdMob and related Google services may collect or process certain information, such as advertising identifiers, device information, app interactions, diagnostics, crash data, performance data, and approximate location derived from network or device signals, depending on your device settings, Google settings, consent choices, and applicable laws.

Advertising data is processed by Google according to Google’s own policies. You can learn more about how Google uses data from apps that use its services by visiting:

https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

You may be able to limit ad personalization through your device settings or Google account settings.

7. Internet and Cloud Services

QuietLog is designed as a local-first app for personal record keeping.

The app does not require a QuietLog account and does not provide cloud sync for your noise logs or audio recordings.

Internet access may be used for advertising services, app-related system services, or future features that clearly require network access. Personal logs and locally stored audio recordings are not uploaded to QuietLog servers.

8. Location Data

QuietLog does not require GPS location permission for its core features.

If you manually type a place or room name into a log, such as “bedroom,” “living room,” or “street side,” that text is stored locally as part of your noise log. The app does not need to access your precise GPS location for this.

Advertising services such as Google AdMob may process approximate location information depending on your device settings and Google’s advertising systems.

9. Data Deletion

You can delete individual noise logs inside the app. If the app provides a “delete all logs” option, you can use it to remove all saved noise logs from your device.

If optional audio recordings are available, deleting a log may also delete audio files attached to that log, depending on how the feature is implemented. You may also delete all locally stored app data by uninstalling the app or clearing the app data through your device settings.

10. Data Security

QuietLog stores app data locally using the device’s app storage. We do not operate a server that receives or stores your personal noise logs or audio recordings.

However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure. You should protect your device with appropriate device security settings, such as a screen lock.

11. Children’s Privacy

QuietLog is not directed to children under the age of 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Measurement Disclaimer

QuietLog uses a smartphone microphone to estimate reference-only noise levels. The displayed dB values may vary depending on the device model, microphone performance, phone case, environment, and device settings.

QuietLog does not replace a certified sound level meter. The values shown in the app do not have official or legal measurement validity.

For accurate, certified, or official measurements, please use a dedicated professional measurement device or consult a qualified professional.

13. Legal and Responsible Use

QuietLog is provided as a personal record-keeping tool. It does not provide legal advice and does not determine whether a noise event is illegal.

If you use any audio recording feature, you are responsible for ensuring that your use complies with applicable laws and respects the privacy rights of other people.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. If changes are made, the updated version will be posted with a new “Last updated” date.
